What is Afterpay?

Afterpay is a service that lets your customers buy now and pay in four interest-free installments, due every two weeks.

The best part? As soon as your customer makes a purchase, you get paid in full upfront! After that, Afterpay takes care of collecting the remaining payments from your customer over time.

What is Klarna?

Similar to Afterpay, Klarna is a global payment service that offers flexible payment options during checkout. It helps customers manage their payments, regardless of the price of your products.

Just like Afterpay, once the payment is approved, you get paid upfront (minus the fees). Then, Klarna collects the installment payments from your customer, if applicable.

🚨 Heads Up!
To use Afterpay and Klarna, the following must match:

  • Currency in your Stripe account

  • Currency in your WithMe store

  • Your customer’s location must match yours.

For example:

  • American customers using USD Klarna can only purchase from WithMe Creators in the U.S. who have a Stripe account set to USD.


How to Enable Afterpay and Klarna at Checkout

To use Afterpay and Klarna, you’ll need to confirm the following:

  1. You need a Stripe Custom account connected to your WithMe store.

For Afterpay:

  • You’re based in: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, or Spain.

  • Your WithMe store and Stripe account both use one of the following currencies: USD, CAD, GBP, AUD, NZD, or EUR.

For Klarna:

  • You’re based in: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, or the United States.

  • Your WithMe store and Stripe account both use one of the following currencies: AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, NZD, SEK, or USD.

Once you’re eligible, Afterpay and Klarna will automatically appear at checkout in your live WithMe store.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Will I Get Paid?

You’ll receive full payment upfront for the total sale (minus fees), while your customer will continue to pay in installments via Afterpay or Klarna.


Are There Any Limitations on How Much I Can Charge for Afterpay & Klarna?

Yes, there are price limits:

  • Afterpay can be used for products priced between $1 and $4000.

  • Klarna requires products to be priced at $35 or higher.


Which Countries is Afterpay Supported In?

Afterpay is available in the following countries:

  • United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Spain.

Afterpay supports the following currencies:

  • USD, CAD, GBP, AUD, NZD, EUR.

To use Afterpay, the currency in your Stripe account, WithMe store, and your customer’s currency must match.


Which Countries is Klarna Supported In?

Klarna is available in:

  • Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Klarna supports:

  • AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, NZD, SEK, USD.

Note: In Europe, you can process intra-EEA payments as long as the currency matches the customer’s country.


What Are the Transaction Fees for Afterpay and Klarna?

  • Afterpay: Stripe charges ~6% + 30¢ per transaction (fees may vary based on currency).

  • Klarna: Stripe charges 5.99% + 30¢ per transaction.

For high-value orders, both Afterpay and Klarna offer installment plans (6 or 12 months), with interest rates based on a soft credit check.


Disputed Payments

  • Afterpay covers disputes related to fraud or the inability to repay installments.

  • Klarna covers disputes for fraud or inability to repay, provided you follow Klarna’s shipping policy.


Refunds

  • You can refund Afterpay charges within 120 days from the payment date.

  • Klarna refunds can be made within 180 days after the payment.

Refunds usually take 5-7 business days but may take longer depending on the customer’s bank.

Once the refund is processed, Stripe will automatically cancel any remaining payments, so your customer won’t be charged further.

Currently, payment plans (Afterpay and Klarna) are unavailable for the following features:

  • Funnels

  • Recurring Membership Products

  • Products with Order Bump enabled
