Set Up a Custom Domain for Your WithMe Platform

Updated this week

Give your WithMe Creator Hub a professional edge by using your own domain name — no "withme.so" extension, just your brand front and center.

Example: Instead of withme.so/trainwithjo, your customers can go to trainwithjo.com.

🧐 What’s a Custom Domain?

A custom domain is a web address you own (like www.yourbusiness.com) that you can use to host your WithMe Creator Hub. This makes your brand easier to recognize and builds trust.

🧠 What’s a Custom Domain?

A custom domain is a URL you own (like www.yourbusiness.com) that you can point directly to your WithMe Creator Hub. This makes your brand appear more professional and easier to remember — perfect for building trust and recognition.

🪜 How to Set It Up

Setting up your custom domain is a mix of simple DIY steps and backend magic from our team. Here's how the process works:

Step 1: Submit a Custom Domain Request

  1. Head to your WithMe Dashboard → More → Custom Domain

  2. Fill out the short request form with your domain name.

  3. Once submitted, our team will email you 4 DNS entries (also called namespaces).

💡 Didn't receive the email?
Check your spam folder or message us directly. We’ll send you the name servers manually.

⚠️ Very Important: Replace Old Name Servers (Don’t Just Add Them)

Most domain hosts give you a section to add records, but for name servers (NS), you must replace the old ones entirely.

Don’t just add them in your DNS settings or zone file — that won’t work.

Step 2: Add DNS Records to Your Domain Host

To connect your domain to your WithMe platform, you'll need to add the 4 DNS records we provide to your domain's Nameserver settings. This step typically takes less than 2 minutes.

🤔 Why this step matters:

Only your registrar controls which DNS provider handles your domain. Adding NS records inside your DNS settings or old host (like Cloudflare or GoDaddy DNS) does not work.

When adding the records:

  • Enter the values exactly as provided.
Do not include https:// or any other prefixes — just the plain code (e.g., ns1.withmeplatform.com).

  • 🕒 Set TTL (Time to Live) to at least 30 minutes or ideally 1 hour.
If you're unsure, 1 hour is a safe and widely accepted default.

🫠 Simple Analogy:

Your registrar is like the post office. If you move (to AWS), you have to tell the post office (registrar) your new address. Just writing the new address (AWS NS records) inside your old house (old DNS host) doesn't actually move your mail (website traffic).

Where to Add These Records

You’ll need to log into your domain host (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.) and locate the DNS Settings or DNS Management section.

Each host has its own layout. Here's a link to DNS setup guides for popular providers:

💡 Tip: Keep the TTL as low as 30min to 1 hour. If you’re unsure where to paste the values, reach out to your domain host’s support or forward them our email.

Step 3: Add the Records and Wait for DNS Propagation

Once we send you the 4 DNS entries, you’ll have a 72-hour window to add them to your domain’s Nameserver settings. WithMe actively monitors progress daily to ensure the process is seamless.

After 24 hours, we’ll automatically check if the records have been added and whether they’ve propagated successfully.

🌍 What Is DNS Propagation?

When you update Nameserver settings, the changes need to propagate across the internet, reaching DNS servers around the world. This process ensures that your domain consistently points to your WithMe Hub — everywhere.

DNS propagation typically takes anywhere from a few minutes to several hours, depending on your domain host and the TTL (Time to Live) you set. The process is usually completed within a few days depending on the domain provider and other factors.

✅ How to Check Propagation

You can check the status of your records using a tool like DNSChecker.org:

  1. Paste your full domain name (e.g., yourdomain.com) in the search bar.

  2. Check if the record type is set to NS

  3. Click Search.

  4. You'll see a map with results from multiple global servers.

Look for ✅ green check marks next to each record — this means the record has propagated successfully.

📸 Refer to the attached screenshot to see what a successful result looks like.

⚖️ Troubleshooting

If you see red ❌ marks or your added record are not found:

  • Double-check that you replaced the name servers, not just added them

  • Make sure you made changes at your registrar, not inside old DNS zone

  • Confirm each NS value was copied correctly (no missing characters or extra spaces)

  • TTL (Time to Live) can be set as low as 1 hour or left to default

If unsure, take a screenshot of your settings and send it to us — we’ll confirm it for you. If everything seems correct, we just need to wait for the records to propagate.
Once the correct records are detected, we’ll take it from there and complete the setup on our end — no further action needed from you!

🚀 Step 4: WithMe Finalizes Setup

Once your domain points to the correct AWS name servers:

  • We’ll complete the backend setup

  • You’ll get a confirmation email when your platform is live

Then your platform will work from your custom domain like: www.yourbrand.com

🎉 You're Live!

Once it’s active, all your members and content will be available at your custom URL.
You can now promote your platform as:

yourbusiness.com instead of withme.so/yourbusiness
