Find the video editing option that's best for you

Knowing how to edit your videos is a really valuable skill that will enable your to take your videos from good to great. Whether you're slicing together different clips, or cutting out the outtakes, it's important to find a piece of software that aligns with your skillset and helps you easily edit your videos. Although have no fear, because if you really can’t get your head around how to edit them yourself, or just simply don't have the time, there are options for you too. Read on to find out.

On your computer

If you consider yourself to be fairly tech savvy then this might be a good option for you. These programmes can sometimes seem a little daunting if you’ve never used them but we’re here to tell you they’re not. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Adobe

Probably one of the most well-known creative softwares, which means there are lots of great tutorials on youtube etc. to troubleshoot any problems. Get familiar with the tools you need for video editing, you don’t need to worry about the rest!

Final Cut Pro.

An Apple only software and pretty sophisticated so this is a great option if you feel pretty confident with your video editing and are looking for something that’s optimised for a Mac. Again, since it’s considered an industry standard when it comes to video editing softwares there are lots of tutorials available so don’t be put off if you want to give it a go as a newbie!

Vimeo Create

If you’re starting form 0 and just need something that can get you started Vimeo Create is perfect. It’s quick and easy, and the drag and drop functions make it really simple. Plus it’s all done on your web browser, so no need to download any software.

On your phone

Prefer to edit on the go? Try one of these...

Inshot

A simple, no-frills app. But don’t be put off by it’s simplicity as you’re still guaranteed high-quality editing that you can then send to your computer to upload to your platform.

IMovie

If you’re completely new to the world of video editing then IMovie is the way to go. It’s drag and drop tool make it quick and simple to use and whilst it’s only available on Apple. it does come preloaded as an apple ‘standard’ app so you’re already good to go.

Lumafusion

This is one to use if you consider yourself well versed in video editing, and are looking for an app that means you can edit on the go. It’s professional tools make it pretty advanced, allowing you to use a high-quality software on your phone, and on the go.

Hire help

Not ready to do it yourself or would rather just focus on the content creation rather than the editing? There are options for this, too.

Upwork

An affordable way to hire someone who knows what they’re doing. Upwork are also on hand to help find you the best talent if you’re not quite sure what skill set you’re looking for.

People per hour

This one does what it says on the tin. Pay for the work by the hour and get high-quality videos in return.

Fiverr

Fiverr work on a project by project basis so this is a great option if you’re wanting to have your videos edited in bulk rather than on an as and when you film them basis.
