🏦 Stripe Required for Tax Collection

To enable tax collection inside WithMe, you must have Stripe connected to your platform

Even if you accept payments through PayPal, Stripe is required for sales tax features due to its advanced tax capabilities.

Stripe automatically calculates and applies sales tax based on your customer’s location and local tax laws — covering over 11,000 jurisdictions globally with high accuracy.

🧾 Steps to Enable Tax Collection in WithMe

  1. Open the WithMe Dashboard

  2. Go to your Payouts tab

  3. Tap Payments and confirm that Stripe is connected
➡️ If not, tap Connect Stripe and follow the prompts

  4. Scroll to Sales Tax Settings

  5. Toggle Enable Sales Tax to ON

  6. Choose your tax display style:

    • Inclusive Tax – Tax is built into your product price (no surprises at checkout)

    • Exclusive Tax – Tax is added at checkout (standard in U.S.)

  7. Enter your business address
🔐 This determines the tax region you’ll be registered under

📤 Exporting Your Tax Records (for Reporting)

Need to file or track your tax data?

  1. Go to the Earnings tab in your WithMe Dashboard

  2. Tap Export CSV

  3. Use filters (e.g. date range, product type) to refine your export

  4. Your CSV file will include tax amounts per transaction for easy reporting

🌍 Country-Specific Tax Notes

🇺🇸 United States

  • You can only collect tax in states where your business is registered.

  • States like Alaska, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, and New Hampshire don’t have sales tax, so no collection is required there.

  • Some states like California and New York don’t tax digital goods — tax will be disabled for those products.

🇨🇦 Canada

  • Stripe will apply GST or HST depending on province-specific rules.

🇦🇺 Australia, 🇳🇿 New Zealand, 🇬🇧 UK

  • Stripe will collect federal-level tax (GST/VAT) as required by local laws.

🇪🇺 EU Countries

  • Stripe will apply VAT using the OSS (One-Stop Shop) registration model across all EU countries.
