π± Troubleshooting Video Upload Issues on Mobile
Uploading videos from your phone should be simple β and it usually is! But sometimes iOS and Safari can be a little tricky. Don't worry, we've got you covered with the most common fixes so you can get back to creating π¬
π Why Do Uploads Sometimes Fail on Mobile?
Mobile browsers (especially Safari on iPhone) handle large file uploads differently than desktop browsers. Here are the most common culprits:
π΄ Screen lock / sleep β Safari pauses uploads when your screen turns off
πΆ Unstable Wi-Fi or mobile data β large files need a steady connection
π§ Low memory β too many apps running in the background
π Safari quirks β Safari has stricter memory and timeout limits than Chrome
β Quick Fixes to Try First
Keep your screen on! Go to Settings β Display & Brightness β Auto-Lock and set it to Never while uploading. This is the #1 fix for failed uploads on iOS! π
Close background apps. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen and close any apps you're not using. This frees up memory for your upload π§Ή
Connect to strong Wi-Fi. Avoid uploading on mobile data β a stable Wi-Fi connection makes all the difference πΆ
Try a smaller file. If your video is over 500 MB, consider compressing it first or uploading from a desktop instead ποΈ
π‘ Pro Tip: Plug your phone in while uploading! A charging phone is less likely to enter low-power mode, which can interrupt uploads.
π Switch to Chrome (Recommended for iOS Uploads)
If you're running into repeated issues with Safari, we highly recommend using Google Chrome on your iPhone instead. Chrome handles large file uploads more reliably on iOS! π
Download Google Chrome from the App Store if you don't have it already
Open Chrome and navigate to your WithMe dashboard
Log in and head to My Hub β Memberships, then hit + New Membership Post and attach your video as normal
π‘ Pro Tip: You can set Chrome as your default browser in Settings β Chrome β Default Browser App so all WithMe links open there automatically!
π₯ Uploading from Desktop (Best for Large Files)
For the smoothest experience β especially with longer videos β we recommend uploading from a laptop or desktop computer. Desktop browsers handle large files much more reliably than mobile! π» The upload flow is identical: open My Hub β Memberships, click + New Membership Post, and drop your video in.
