Want to get someone onto your email list? You can add one person at a time, or upload a CSV file to add lots of people at once. Both start from the same place in your dashboard. 🎉
🗂️ Where Your Contacts Live
Your contacts are on your Customers page. On a computer, select Customers in the sidebar. On a phone, tap More > Customers.
Select Add Customer to open the add window. It has two modes: Single email and Upload CSV.
✅ Adding a Single Contact
Go to Customers and select Add Customer.
Choose Single email.
Type the person's address in Email Address.
Use Select Product Type and Select Product to choose what you are adding them to.
This gives the person free access to the product you pick, without them having to pay.
📄 Adding Many Contacts With a CSV File
To add lots of people at once, choose Upload CSV in the Add Customer window. You upload the file right there in your dashboard.
Your CSV needs one column of email addresses. If you are importing leads, you can also include an optional name column. The file can be up to 2 MB.
You can import into one of your existing products, or into your default lead list (Default Lead Capture). Some products can't be imported into this way, and you will see an error if you try. CSV import can't be used to gift direct messages.
✋ Before You Import
You need to tick a box confirming that the addresses belong to real people who agreed to get emails from you. Bought, scraped, old or made-up addresses bounce, get marked as spam, damage your sending reputation and can get your email sending blocked.
🔍 Check Your File, Then Import
Select Choose CSV file and pick your file.
Select Check file to preview what will happen. You will see how many people will be added, how many already have an account, how many are skipped because they already have the product or are already invited, how many are skipped because the address is invalid, and how many duplicates were removed.
Select Import to run it. The button shows how many people will be added, and you can watch the progress as it works.
When it finishes, a result screen shows how many people were added, invited, skipped or failed. If the import stops part way, the screen tells you that too.
People marked as invited get access automatically once they sign up for an account. Added customers get an email letting them know they have access. People added only to a lead capture are handled differently and don't get that same access email.
Leads you import by CSV are marked as cold contacts.
📏 Upload Limits
There is a maximum number of email addresses per upload. If your file has more, you will see an error showing your count and the limit. There is also a daily limit on how many customers you can add to products, and the error tells you how many more you can add that day.
📨 Emailing Your Contacts
Your email tools are in Email Marketing. On a computer, select Email Marketing in the sidebar. On a phone, tap More > Email Marketing.
Use Broadcasts to send an email out, and Sequences for automated emails triggered by customer actions.
Each person gets at most one broadcast or timed sequence email from you a day. Large broadcasts go out in batches, starting with a small trial batch.
The Delivery tab shows your Delivery health: how many of your emails bounced or were marked as spam. Cross the warning level and you will be told so you can fix it. Cross the limit and sending stops until it is sorted.
Importing an old list? Send to the people who heard from you most recently first, and build up. If an address bounces, it stops being mailed automatically, so don't add it back by re-importing the same list.
📱 Email Marketing on a Phone
On a phone, if the Email Marketing tab names don't all fit, the tab row scrolls sideways and shows each tab's full name. A fade at the right edge means there are more tabs, and it disappears once you scroll to the end. The tab you open, such as Automated Emails, scrolls into view automatically.
On wider screens, or where the tabs already fit, the tab row looks and behaves as usual.
