πŸ”— How to Embed Links in Posts and Course Lessons

Want to share a YouTube video, a Spotify playlist, or an external resource directly inside your content? WithMe lets you embed links in both community posts and course lessons β€” but they work a little differently. Here's everything you need to know! πŸŽ‰

πŸ“ Embedding Links in Community Posts

When you create a community post, you can paste a supported link directly into the post body. For most supported platforms, WithMe will automatically generate a rich preview card.

  1. Head to your Community tab in the Creator Dashboard.

  2. Click Create Post.

  3. Paste your link directly into the post body text area.

  4. A preview card should appear below the link β€” this confirms the embed is working. You'll see a clickable card with a thumbnail and title pulled from the linked page.

  5. Add any additional text and hit Post.

πŸŽ“ Embedding Links in Course Lessons

Course lessons use a dedicated embed block rather than inline link previews. This means the process is slightly different from community posts.

  1. Go to your Creator Dashboard and click Courses.

  2. Select the course you want to edit, then open the lesson you'd like to add an embed to.

  3. Paste your link into the embed field and save the lesson.

Unlike community posts, course lesson embeds render inside a dedicated player or iframe rather than as a preview card. This means the embedded content typically appears full-width within the lesson layout. If the embed is working, you'll see the content (e.g. a video player or interactive form) rendered directly in the lesson β€” a blank space or raw URL means something went wrong (see troubleshooting below).

πŸ”— Supported Link Types

Not every link will generate an embed. Here are the commonly supported platforms:

  • Video: YouTube, Vimeo, Loom

  • Audio: Spotify, SoundCloud

  • Other: Google Docs, Google Slides, Typeform

These are the most commonly used embed sources β€” other platforms may also work. If you need to confirm whether a specific platform is supported, reach us in the chat and we'll check for you. πŸ’¬

πŸ› οΈ Troubleshooting Blank Embeds

If your embed shows a blank page or doesn't load, try these steps:

  1. Check the link format. Make sure you're pasting the full URL (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...), not a shortened or mobile link. Some platforms require the standard desktop URL to embed correctly.

  2. Confirm the platform is supported. Unsupported links may paste without any error but simply won't render a preview or embed β€” you'll see the raw URL or a blank space instead.

  3. Check the source privacy settings. Videos or pages set to private or restricted may block embedding. Make sure the content is set to public or unlisted.

  4. Try a fresh browser tab. Occasionally a browser extension or cached state can interfere with embed rendering. Open a new tab or try an incognito window to rule this out.

  5. Post vs lesson? If a link works in a community post but not a course lesson (or vice versa), the embed type may not be supported in that context β€” refer to the supported link types section above.

If you've tried all of the above and the embed is still blank, message us in the chat β€” we'll take a look and get it sorted for you! πŸ’¬
