🎬 Adding Videos to Course Lessons

Videos are one of the most powerful ways to deliver your course content β€” and WithMe makes it easy to include them! The key to a smooth experience is knowing when to add your video: right at the start when you create your lesson. Here's everything you need to know. πŸ‘‡

⚑ Best Practice: Publish Your Course First, Then Add Lessons

While creating your course, you’ll see a step to add chapters and lessons. We recommend adding one chapter and one lesson first, then publishing the course.

Once the course is published, you can go back and continue adding your lessons and media one by one.

Why this helps:
If your internet connection drops, you lose network, or there’s a temporary server issue, unsaved progress can sometimes be lost. Publishing the course early ensures your structure is saved safely before adding more content.

πŸ“Ή Important Note About Adding Videos

WithMe’s course builder requires you to upload your video during the lesson creation step.

Once a lesson with a video is saved, the video cannot be edited or swapped later. Because of this, it's best to have your final video ready before uploading it to the lesson.

A little upfront preparation goes a long way and makes course creation much smoother. πŸ™Œ

Note: If you uploaded the wrong media, you can simply delete the lesson and create a new one with the correct file. After recreating it, you can easily reorder the lessons to place it back in the correct position within the chapter.

βœ… Step-by-Step: Creating a Lesson With a Video

Follow these steps to add a video-based lesson to your course:

  1. Go to your WithMe dashboard and open your course.

  2. Click "Upload Content".

  3. Give your lesson a title and fill in any details in the description box.

  4. Upload or embed your video in the video field

  5. Hit "next" and select the chapter , schedule the lesson's publish date (optional)

  6. Click Post to lock in your lesson with the video attached.

πŸ“ Note:
Make sure your video is fully uploaded and processed before saving the lesson.
Saving too early may prevent the video from attaching correctly.
Each video file must be under 5GB to upload successfully.

πŸ”§ Already Saved a Lesson Without a Video? Here's the Fix

Don't worry β€” we've got you! If you've already saved a lesson and realised it's missing its video, here's the workaround:

  1. Delete the existing lesson β€” you'll find a delete option in the lesson settings or via the three-dot menu next to the lesson.

  2. Recreate the lesson from scratch, this time uploading your video before hitting save.

  3. Reorder the lessons into correct order: After recreating it, you can easily reorder the lessons to place it back in the correct position within the chapter.

  4. Hit "save" to ensure your video is saved in the correct position.

Yes, it takes a few extra minutes β€” but the result is a polished, complete lesson your students will love. πŸ’ͺ

πŸ’‘ Pro Tips for a Smooth Course-Building Experience

  • 🎬 Batch your videos first β€” record and export all your lesson videos before you start building lessons in WithMe.

  • πŸ“‹ Plan your lesson list β€” map out all your lessons in a doc before creating them so nothing gets missed.

  • ☁️ Use fast storage β€” keep your videos in an easy-to-access location (like your Desktop or a dedicated folder) so uploads are quick.

  • βœ… Preview before you publish β€” always check that your video plays correctly in the lesson before students can see it.

πŸ“ Note: The same steps apply for uploading any media type. You cannot upload multiple media types in a single lesson. Add your media using the Media option, include any related text in the lesson description, and create separate lessons for additional media files.

Your course is your product β€” and with a little planning, you'll have it looking incredible in no time. You've got this! πŸš€
