💸 How Affiliate Commission Rates Work

Learn how the Commission Rate (%) field works across your products, including blank, zero, and maximum rate behaviour.

💸 How the Commission Rate (%) field works

When you set up affiliates on a product, you'll see a Commission Rate (%) field. Whatever number you type is read as a percentage of the sale.

For example, typing 1 sets the rate to 1%. Typing 0.5 sets 0.5%. Typing 12.5 sets 12.5%.

🧮 Setting a rate of 0%

You can set a product's Affiliate Commission Rate to exactly 0%. When you do, affiliates earn no commission at all on that product.

This works the same way no matter which product type you're selling.

🛒 Which products this applies to

The Commission Rate (%) field works this way across all 9 sellable product types: memberships, 1:1 coaching, courses, communities, digital products, link products, webinars, coaching calls, and custom/message (DM) products.

Lead capture products, used for collecting emails for free, don't have a commission rate field. Affiliates earn no commission on these products.

📝 Leaving the field blank

If you leave the Commission Rate field blank for a product, that product uses your affiliate program's default commission rate instead of a product-specific one.

🚫 Rate limits

The form won't let you save a negative commission rate, or a rate above the allowed maximum.

If you try to save a rate outside that range, you'll need to lower it before the form will save.
