Marketing 101: How To Do Your Own Influencer Marketing

Get new eyes on what you're creating

Updated over a week ago

As a creator/ influencer you can forget that you too can benefit from the tools of effective influencer marketing. Getting creators to try, test and post about your platform is a brilliant way to get new eyes on what you do. It also helps bring trust and authority to the product, allowing you to repost a higher-profile individual trying your platform and enjoying it.

So how do you get started?

  1. Compile a list of all influencers in your immediate inner circle, whether it be virtually or personally. Who do you support on Instagram, and who supports you?

  2. Go through your ‘follows’ and see which influencers follow you. A blue tick is a quick indicator but you may find you have to dig a little deeper!

  3. Discover new influencers that may have a social media that lends itself to promoting your product. If your platform is about fitness perhaps think about looking at fashion/lifestyle/food/interior influencers that post about their lifestyle but won’t be promoting something that directly competes with you.

Once you have a list it’s time to compose a message, asking if you could give them a free membership to your online platform.

Example of Influencer Outreach:

Hey lovely!

Hope all is well with you?

As you may know, I recently launched my online membership platform where I’m teaching Barre, Pilates, stretching sessions, and Functional Training in a series of on-demand and LIVE workouts. I would love to gift you a free membership, and get your expert feedback! I think you’ll love the workouts.

Let me know if you’re up for it?

All I need is your email to set you up xx

Example of Influencer Outreach Follow Up:

Hey X,

How are you getting on with the workouts? We’ve got a fantastic live pilates class tomorrow morning at X time you should join.

Would love your feedback, and if you’re able to share the workouts with your followers on your stories I’d be so grateful x

How to stay organised?

We like to use google sheets, inputting the name of the person next to a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ if they’ve replied. This way you can track your success and A/B test different messages to see which one gets the best results.

How to make sure the influencer posts?

For those influencers who said yes, try to make sure they use it by telling them about a challenge or live class they should join. A time and date is a great way to ensure they try the product.

It’s a great idea ahead of gifting your product that you show them some support too. If they’ve just released a new product or partnership, repost it on your stories tagging them. As they say - what goes around comes around. If you show them you’ll support their ventures it’s safe to say they will likely do the same!
