Our top 5 tips on how to create an email marketing plan.

Updated over a week ago

Once you’ve exported your email list (see how here) it’s time to create an email marketing strategy.

Read on for 5 of our top tips to get you started:

1) Determine your goals:

First let’s determine what you want to achieve with your email marketing efforts. Here are a few examples:

  • Setting the scene: A welcome email explaining to new members what they can expect to see.

  • Customer retention: A weekly email with your live workout schedule, or indicating what’s new and what’s coming soon.

  • Upselling: Emailing members on lower tiers or a shorter length subscription with incentives to upsell them.

  • Reduce Exits: An email sent out to members that have left after their free trial, or after a set subscription period. You can offer them a discount to come back.

If you only do one we advise focusing on customer retention. A weekly or bi-weekly email with ‘what’s new’ or ‘what’s coming!’.

2) Create a content calendar:

Plan out the content you will include in your emails in advance. This might include promotional emails, newsletters, or new video release emails.

3) Choose your email service provider:

Choose a platform to send your emails from, such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact. These platforms allow you to create and send professional-looking emails, track the performance of your emails, and manage your email list.

4) Design and create your emails:

Use the email service provider's templates and design tools to create visually appealing emails that are consistent with your brand. You can also use templates in Canva.

5) Track and analyse your results:

Use the email service provider's analytics tools to track the performance of your emails, such as open rates and click-through rates. Use this data to continually optimise and improve your email marketing efforts.

By following these steps, you can create an effective email marketing plan for your online fitness membership business.
