How Does My Customer Update Their Payment Information for a Subscription on WithMe?
When a customer subscribes to your Recurring Membership, Community Membership, or Course Subscription, they can easily manage their payment details and subscription directly from their confirmation emails.
Here's a breakdown of how they can update their payment info and what emails they will receive throughout their membership:
1. Confirmation Email After Signup
Once your customer subscribes, they will receive a confirmation email with all the details of their subscription. This email also includes a link to update their payment information.
Customize the Confirmation Email:
You can customize this email by heading to your Membership product in WithMe > then go to Advanced > click on the Confirmation Email section.
2. Recurring Payment Confirmation
After each payment is processed for a monthly, weekly, or daily recurring membership, your customer will receive an email. This email includes the option to update their payment details or cancel their subscription.
If you prefer not to send these emails, you can turn them off:
Go to Settings in your WithMe dashboard
Click on Email Notifications
Toggle off the button next to Recurring Payments
3. Payment Unsuccessful Emails
If a payment fails for a recurring membership, your customer will receive an email prompting them to update their payment details. Stripe will automatically retry the payment up to 4 times. After the 4th failed attempt, the subscription will be automatically canceled.
If this happens, you’ll also receive an email letting you know that their subscription has expired.
4. Update Billing Details Link
If your customer needs to update their payment details but can’t find the recurring payment emails, you can manually send them the link to update their billing information.
Here’s how:
Go to the Customers tab in your WithMe dashboard
Find the customer and click to open their profile
On the right side of the active subscription, click the three dots
Select Copy Billing Link
Paste the link into a message or email to your customer
This link will allow them to update their payment details for their active subscription.
5. Cancellation Confirmation
When your customer cancels their subscription (or you do it for them), they’ll receive a Cancellation Confirmation email letting them know their membership has been canceled.
