📁 What is a File product?
A File product lets you sell a single downloadable file that isn't a video, image, PDF or audio track. Think zip files, docx, xlsx, csv, pptx, txt, epub, psd, fonts and more.
🛠️ How to set it up
Create a digital product and go to the Checkout tab.
In the 'Upload your digital product' section, choose File alongside the Video, Image, PDF and Audio options.
Select Select your file, or drag your file into the upload area where it says 'Drag your file here or'.
Choose a file up to 5GB in size. Allowed types include zip, doc/docx, xls/xlsx, csv, ppt/pptx, txt, rtf, md, epub, pages, numbers, key, psd, ai, fig, sketch, eps, indd, procreate, fonts, images, audio and video files.
If you pick a file type that isn't supported, like .exe or .html, you'll see: 'Unsupported file type. Please select a supported file.' Just choose a different file to continue.
⬇️ Downloads are always on
A File product is always downloadable by buyers. There's no separate toggle to turn downloading on or off for this type.
🖼️ Adding a thumbnail
You can optionally set a custom thumbnail image for your File product. If you add one, buyers will see that image with a Download button. If you don't, buyers see a plain file tile with a Download button instead.
When a buyer downloads the file, it keeps its original file type and is named after your product title.
🔁 Replacing the file later
You can swap out the file at any time. Go to Edit, select Replace Content, choose File, then use Select new file to upload the replacement.
Once you save, buyers who download the product will get the new file.
