🎯 What is Next post targeting?
When you set up an automation, you choose which posts it applies to. Alongside All posts and Pick posts, you can choose Next post. This targets the very next post you publish, rather than any post you've already shared.
Next post automations only support the comment trigger. Follower-only gating options tied to other triggers aren't available for this targeting type.
🔒 Arming the automation
Set Which posts to Next post.
Select Arm next post.
Your automation moves into a waiting state. An older, already-published post will not bind to it, only a post you publish after arming will count.
📌 How binding works
Once you publish a new post, the automation checks for it and binds to the first verified post, showing its thumbnail so you can confirm it picked up the right one.
If you don't want to wait, you can select Check for published post to manually trigger that check instead.
If another automation already uses the same keyword on the post this automation binds to, you'll see a conflict message letting you know. Pause the other automation or choose a different keyword to resolve it.
⏸️ Pausing and cancelling
Pausing a waiting or bound Next post automation keeps its original arming time, so you won't lose your place when you resume it.
Selecting Cancel waiting returns the automation to an unarmed Next post draft state, as if you hadn't armed it yet.
