By default, an Auto DM keyword trigger fires whenever someone comments it on any of your posts. The post picker lets you scope a keyword trigger to one or more specific posts instead, so the automation only fires on the posts you choose.
🔗 Account-Wide vs. Post-Specific Triggers
When you set up an Auto DM keyword trigger without selecting any posts, it stays account-wide, the keyword fires on every post, including new ones you publish later. Adding posts through the post picker switches that trigger to post-specific: it only fires on the posts you've selected, and comments on any other post are ignored. You can run both types at once, an account-wide trigger for a general keyword, and post-specific triggers scoped to individual launches or promotions.
🔧 Steps to Restrict a Keyword to Specific Posts
Open the Auto DM automation with the keyword trigger you want to scope.
Select Pick posts under Which posts in the trigger settings.
Use the post picker to select one or more posts you want the keyword to apply to.
Repeat to add as many posts as you need, the keyword will fire on any of the selected posts.
To remove a post from the trigger, deselect it in the post picker.
To go back to firing on every post, clear all selected posts in the picker.
Save your changes. The keyword trigger now only fires on comments left on the posts you selected.
👆 What Happens When Someone Comments
When a follower leaves the trigger keyword as a comment on one of your selected posts, the Auto DM sends as usual. The same keyword left on a post that isn't selected won't trigger anything, the automation only watches the posts you've chosen in the picker.
