⏱️ How Community Event Cards Change Over Time

Learn how event cards and posts switch between countdown, Live now, and ended states as your event's time passes.

⏱️ What changes and when

Event cards in your community update automatically as the event's start time comes and goes. You don't need to do anything, the card just reflects where the event is in time.

🔜 Before the event starts

The card shows a countdown to the start time, along with a Join button and an Add to Calendar button.

🔴 During the first hour

Once the event's start time arrives, the card switches to a Live now pill with a Join button. Add to Calendar is hidden during this time.

WithMe only stores a start time for events, so the app treats every event as lasting 60 minutes from that start time to decide when to show Live now versus ended.

✅ After the first hour

Once that hour has passed, the card shows 'This event has finished' along with the date it ran on. A note lets members know they can still like and reply to the post. A See upcoming events button also appears.

  1. Tap See upcoming events.

  2. This opens the Upcoming Events filter and scrolls to the top of the list. It does not open the post itself.

📖 Opening the post

When you open the full post for an event, it follows the same countdown, Live now, and ended states as the card. The only difference is that the expanded post view does not include the See upcoming events button.

📋 A note on the Upcoming Events list

The Upcoming Events list can keep showing an event for up to 24 hours after it starts, even if that event's card already shows it as finished. This just means the list and the card update on slightly different timelines, both are working as expected.
