This is a known edge case that can happen when your customer signs up using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, even when their email address looks like a perfect match. Let's walk through exactly why this happens and how to fix it.
π€ Why Does This Happen?
When you gift a course, WithMe sends an invitation to a specific email address. The system expects your customer to create an account directly with that exact email.
Here's the catch: when someone taps Sign up with Google or Sign up with Apple, the platform creates a new OAuth-linked account. Even if the email address is visually identical, the system may treat it as a separate account because the authentication method is different from what the gift invitation expects.
Think of it like two doors leading to the same building β the gift is waiting behind Door A (email sign-up), but your customer walked through Door B (Google/Apple). Same person, same email, but the system hasn't connected the dots yet. πͺ

This isn't an email mismatch issue. The email genuinely matches β it's the sign-up method that causes the disconnect.
β How to Fix It (Step by Step)
Option 1: Have Your Customer Sign Up with Email Instead
This is the quickest fix! Ask your customer to:
Log out of their current account
Go back to the sign-up page
Choose Sign up with email (not Google or Apple)
Use the exact same email address the gift was sent to
Create a password and complete sign-up
Once they do this, the gift should link automatically, and their status will switch from Pending to Active! π
Option 2: Revoke and Re-Gift the Course
If your customer prefers to keep their Google/Apple account, no problem! You can re-gift the course so it links to their existing account:
Go to your Customers tab from the left hand menu
Find the pending gift and revoke it
Re-gift the course to the user by sharing a 100% promo code with them
Ask your customer to apply the promo code at checkout and get in.
This time, because they're already logged in when they accept, the system will connect the gift to their active account. β¨

When gifting a course, include a quick note to your customer like:
"When you sign up, please use the email sign-up option (not Google or Apple) with this email address to make sure your gift activates instantly!"
