🔓 Why the Free-Access Checkout Button Stays Visible Before You Enter Your Email

Explains why the free-access button on free digital product checkouts stays visible but disabled before a visitor enters their email.

🔓 Why the Free-Access Checkout Button Stays Visible Before You Enter Your Email

When a visitor lands on the checkout page for a free digital product, they will see the free-access button straight away, even before they have typed anything into the email field.

✅ Why It Stays Disabled, Not Hidden

The button is visible from the first load, but it stays disabled until the visitor enters a valid email. You can optionally offer buyers the chance to set a password, but checkout never requires one.

⌨️ What Happens As Visitors Type

As a visitor types or clears the email field, the button updates between enabled and disabled depending on whether the details entered are valid.

The button will never disappear again once it has loaded, even if the visitor clears the field or enters something invalid.

📱 Works The Same On Phone And Desktop

This behaviour is the same whether a visitor is checking out on a phone or a desktop. It also applies the same way when your checkout includes required custom questions. The button stays visible and only becomes enabled once all required fields are valid.

🏷️ When The Button Won't Appear

If a visitor applies a 100% off coupon to a subscription or product-type item, the free-access button will not be shown at all. Since the coupon already brings the price to zero, there is nothing left to claim through the button.
