Why Can’t I Change the Media When Editing a Post?

Why Can’t creators Change the Media When Editing a media Post?

Updated this week

When editing a post on WithMe, you can update almost everything — but not the media file itself.

✅ What You Can Edit

Depending on the product type, you can edit:

  • Title

  • Description

  • Collection

  • Tier access (for memberships)

  • Price (for digital products)

  • Chapters (for courses)

  • Scheduled publish date

  • Other post settings

However:

❌ What You Cannot Edit

You currently cannot replace or swap the media file attached to a post.
This includes:

  • Video files

  • PDFs

  • Images

  • Text post type

Why Is Media Locked?

Media files are locked to maintain:

  • Content stability for members

  • Accurate tracking and structure inside courses and collections

  • Consistency in access and engagement records

Replacing media directly could disrupt content tracking or previously granted access.

What’s the Workaround?

If you need to change the media file:

Step 1: Delete the Post

Remove the existing post that contains the incorrect media.

Step 2: Re-upload the Correct Media

Create a new post with the correct video, PDF, image, or text.

Step 3: Reorder (If Needed)

If the post is part of:

  • A Course (Chapter)

  • A Collection

  • A Membership feed

Use the Reorder feature to drag and place the post back into the correct position.

Good to Know

While media replacement isn’t currently supported, all other structural and access settings remain fully editable — so reorganizing your content is still simple and flexible.
