πŸ”— How to Offer Content as Both a One-Time Purchase and Inside a Membership

Learn how to sell content as a standalone digital product for one-time buyers while also including it in a membership tier for subscribers.

Overview

Some customers want to buy a single piece of content without committing to a monthly membership. You can accommodate both audiences by publishing content as a standalone digital product for one-time purchase and including the same content inside a membership tier for subscribers. This is a common workaround when you want to serve both one-time buyers and recurring subscribers with the same material. Here's how to set it up.

Create a Standalone Digital Product

Start by setting up the content as a product anyone can buy individually.

  1. From your creator dashboard, click My Hub in the sidebar, then click + Add Product.

  2. On the Select Product Type screen, choose Digital Product.

  3. Enter your Product Title, upload a Thumbnail, customize your Add Button Text, and click Next.

  4. On the Details tab, write a description to educate your audience and motivate them to purchase.

  5. In the Add Pricing section, choose Paid Digital Product, enter your price, and select your access duration.

  6. In the Upload your digital product section, select your file format (Video, Images, PDF, Audio, Text, or Go Live) and upload your content, then click Next.

  7. Configure any final settings on the Checkout and Options tabs, such as making the file downloadable or setting up confirmation emails, and then click Publish.

Your digital product will now be shown live on your WithMe hub, available for individual sale. If you want to hide it so it is no longer viewable on your public hub, you can click the three-dot menu next to the product and select Unpublish.

Include the Content in a Membership Tier

Now link that same content into a membership tier so subscribers can access it as part of their plan.

  1. From your creator dashboard, click My Hub in the sidebar.

  2. Open the membership product you want to edit.

  3. Click on the Options tab to access your Additional Settings.

  4. Expand the Included Products dropdown menu and select the standalone digital product you created in the previous section.

  5. Click Update Tier to save your changes. Access to this product will now be included with the customer's subscription.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Pricing strategy: Consider pricing the standalone product slightly higher than the equivalent monthly membership cost to encourage subscriptions. This gives one-time buyers the convenience they want while making the membership look like a better deal for anyone interested in multiple pieces of content.

  • Buyer experience: One-time buyers and members access the same content through different paths β€” the standalone purchase page versus the membership area.

  • Overlap purchases: Consider adding a note on your digital product's sales page letting buyers know the exact same content is also available inside your membership tier. This helps prevent existing subscribers from accidentally purchasing the standalone product separately.
