Migrating from Thinkific to WithMe
This guide shows what the move from Thinkific looks like: what comes across, what you rebuild, and how to bring your students with you without a gap in their access.
The migration is free with the yearly subscription ($300 / £300 / €300 a year), up to 10 GB of files. Bigger libraries are quoted first, and you pay nothing unless you agree. The free migration is not part of the monthly subscription. To see what would move from your Thinkific account before you commit, ask for a free migration check at switch.withme.so/switch. No card needed. We email you what will move, what will not, and how long it should take, within one working day.
What comes with you
Courses, modules, lessons and lesson text. We pull them from Thinkific with your login, or from files you share. See Free migration with the yearly subscription.
Videos (original files), PDFs, downloads and audio. Same as above.
Students' names and emails. Export your enrolled students from Thinkific (Admin, then Students, then Export) and we import them. See How to Migrate Contacts from Another Platform to WithMe.
Students' access to the right courses. We set it up to match what they had. If you add students yourself later, see How Do I Manually Give Access or Add a Customer to a Product?
Your branding (logo and colours), if you send them.
What does not come with you
Card details and running subscriptions. They stay with Thinkific's payment system. See "Paying students" below.
Email sequences and automations. Thinkific's automated emails do not transfer. You rebuild them in WithMe email flows, or buy Done For You. We do not rebuild them in the free migration.
Landing pages and sales pages. Thinkific course landing pages need to be recreated. You rebuild them with WithMe's page builder, or buy Done For You. We do not rebuild them in the free migration.
Quizzes and assessments.
Community comments, likes and member history.
Coupons, order bumps and payment plans. You set them up again in WithMe.
Paying students
Card details cannot be moved between platforms, because Thinkific's payment system holds them. This is what we do instead:
We import your students' names and emails and give them access to the same courses on WithMe.
We keep their access free until their next billing date, so nobody pays twice.
You send them one link to restart their subscription on WithMe before Thinkific charges them again. We give you the email to send.
Keep Thinkific running until your students have moved. Connect your Stripe account in WithMe so you can take payments.
Your domain
You keep your domain. If you had a custom domain on Thinkific, pointing it at WithMe is a short DNS change. We send the exact steps and check your email settings with you first, so your email keeps working. See Custom Domains on WithMe: Overview and Setup Checklist.
Migration timeline
Free migration: most hubs are ready in 5 to 10 working days from when we start. We send an update at each step: started, any login code needed, and ready to check.
Your Thinkific site stays live until you approve the new hub. Nothing goes live until you say so.
We ask for your Thinkific login only when we start, and use it only to download your content. Change your password as soon as we finish. See How to submit your platform login for migration.
Before you cancel Thinkific
Export your student list (Admin, then Students, then Export).
Download your course videos, slides and assets if you can. Original files make the move quicker.
Note which students have access to which courses.
Check the new hub and test student access before you cancel Thinkific, so there is no gap in your students' access. Cancel only when you are happy and your paying students have moved.
